Intended Audience

This course is recommended for University personnel who do not encounter exposed energized electrical parts but want basic electrical safety awareness and recognition skills.

Personnel who may encounter exposed energized parts but are not qualified to work on them must instead take the Electrical Safety in the Workplace course.

Personnel who are qualified to work on exposed energized parts operating between 50 and 600 volts to ground must instead take the Electrical Safety Low Voltage Qualified course.

Description

This course teaches awareness and recognition of the hazards associated with electricity, basics safety controls and practices, and how to respond to electrical injuries. This course does not address arc-flash hazards and controls, lock-out/tag-out procedures, or high voltage (220V or 440V) electrical safety.
