Intended Audience

This course is required for University personnel who are qualified persons permitted to work on exposed energized parts operating at 50 to 600 volts to ground. Retraining is required every three (3) years.

Personnel who face a risk of electrical shock but do not work on exposed energized parts must instead take the Electrical Safety in the Workplace course.

This course teaches safe work practices, personal protective equipment requirements, creating an electrically safe work condition, and the responsibilities of "Qualified Electrical Workers." The course includes group case studies on job planning, energized work permits, and reducing potential for exposure to arc flash and shock.
