Submit it to EH&S for a chance to be recognized at the 2021 Laboratory Safety Awards & Innovations Event.

To enter, email a description of your innovation to (with ”Innovation” as the subject). Selected innovations will be shared at the event through presentations, and as posters on the EH&S website.

Researchers and departments on UW campuses are constantly coming up with great new ways to address safety issues specific to their labs and workgroups. Examples of previous innovations recognized by EH&S are listed on the Lab Safety webpage.

Is your lab or department supporting a strong safety culture?

Awards will be given out at the event to:

  • Departments from each of UW’s three main campuses;
  • Laboratories who are leading the way for improving safety culture; and
  • Individuals who have gone above and beyond to improve safety culture in UW laboratories.

If there is an individual you wish to nominate, contact with a description of the work the person has done to enhance safety and include “nomination” as the subject. The person does not need to work in your laboratory to be nominated.

Winners will be announced by EH&S in November, and trophies will be awarded in December. All winners and innovations will be recognized at the event and on the EH&S website.
