Air quality alert

 

The National Weather Service announced an air quality alert for Western Washington through 12 p.m.. on Thursdat, 8/23. The Environmental Protection Agency’s air quality index in the Seattle and Tacoma areas is in the “unhealthy” category, meaning that “everyone may begin to experience health effects; members of sensitive groups graphic image showing that low level of activity is okay for everyonemay experience more health effects.”

Puget Sound Clean Air Agency and the local health jurisdictions of King, Kitsap, Pierce, and Snohomish counties recommend that everyone stay indoors and keep windows closed, especially sensitive groups, such as older adults and young children, pregnant women, and those with a breathing or heart condition.

Healthy adults should not exercise or perform strenuous physical activity outdoors. If you must perform physical activity outdoors, EH&S recommends you use an n95 respirator, such as the one shown below.
